Teaching
Dr. Yonge has taught in all four years of the Baccalaureate Nursing Program and the Masters Program at the University of Alberta. She has taught in the areas of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, leadership, teaching and learning and qualitative research methods. She has also taught InterD 410, which is a multi disciplinary course for all the health sciences. She is extremely familiar with all delivery methods of teaching including lecture, seminar, preceptorship and clinical.
Workshops
Thus far, she has given 84 workshops. Of these, 18 were co-facilitated with others. Topics included: preceptorship, teaching styles and skills, boundaries, evaluation, teaching effectiveness and carious aspect of communication. Most were one day in length.
Guest Lectures
Guest lectures given and often repeated in Graduate Nursing courses (Nursing 505, 510, 560, 540, 599). In Undergraduate Nursing courses (Nursing 243,320, 321,367, 469). In the Nephrology Nursing Certificate Program (314, 493). For other faculties: Education (Ed Psych 510/512), Medicine (Psychiatric Residents, third year MD students). For other institutions: Mount Royal Community College, Grant MacEwan University (PSYCH 104, 2015-2016).
Course Administration in the Undergraduate Nursing Program
Course leader for N467 (1979-1981). Responsible for managing 6 sections of a seminar course for first year post diploma students.
Course leader for N464 (1982-1990). Responsible for managing and obtaining 150 to 200 student placements for a six-week clinical course for third year baccalaureate nursing students. Section numbers varied – usually at least 10 sections.
Course leader for N366-367 (1991). Responsible for administering a clinical and lecture course to 100 third-year baccalaureate nursing students. Usually between 10 to 15 sections.

From 1977- 1978; 1982 till 2005 exclusive of two sabbaticals, taught courses in the area psychiatric mental nursing, group therapy, rural nursing, team building, interpersonal communication, nursing knowledge, qualitative research methods, and teaching and learning. My main area of expertise is psychiatric mental health nursing and teaching and learning.
